I’m a news junkie. I like to know what is going on all the time. So I frequent various news websites. My favorite website is vox.com. It is a great place to access stories, and some of the journalists take unique approaches to stories, that some other news organizations do not do. I like to read the political articles, but they are much more than just political articles.
Vox’s website is like most websites; it has a homepage with a navigation tool that will take you different pages. Each page is a little different depending on the types of stories each day. The Policy and Politics page has multiple headline articles across the top whereas the technology page has one large headline article and smaller articles underneath. From each category page, you click on the link to the story you want to read, and it will take you to the web page of the story. The structure of Vox.com is like most other websites, but its design is what makes it different.
The layout of Vox.com is what makes it unique and why I prefer it over other news sites. It may sound dumb, but I like the big pictures sitting behind the articles titles. I get to see something that relates to the article that I am about to read. Another aspect of the website that makes it great is that it is visually appealing. There are clean lines; stories aren’t fighting for my attention because the more important ones are, the larger ones. The background is a light color and is not distracting from the information on the website. The font is not distracting, but it is a little large. Overall, the website is well designed because it’s visually appealing and that makes it easier to use.

When it comes to behavior, it acts like its suppose to act. When you click on the article to read it takes you to the page so you can read it. It works with users and reacts the users want. There isn’t much to say about its behavior is other than it works and acts they way users expect.

Vox.com is all about content. If there was no content, then nobody would come to the website. Vox is built on content. In my opinion, they provide good content on a variety of topics. They also have some editorial type articles on the website. I think there is something for everyone content wise on there. Vox has interesting articles that make me return to see what else the writers have created.

I really enjoy the variety of media content on the website, from videos, articles, and even podcasts. The videos usually provide interesting information. One thing that I would change about the website would be the length of the homepage. The homepage seems to go on forever because you keep scrolling and scrolling and then you finally get to the bottom, but on the plus side, all of that scrolling means there is a lot of content available on the homepage.
