Google, more than just a search engine

If there is any web-based service that I use on a daily basis, it would be Google Drive and other Google-based web applications. My favorite aspect of the Google applications is that I can use them anywhere and on any device and it’s free. Google docs contains all of the office type applications you would need like a word publisher, a spreadsheet maker, and a presentation maker. Anything that I want to do in Microsoft Office, I can do in one of those Google applications but it is all online, and I can access it from any computer or mobile device. One of the best features of the Google Docs applications is that you can share a project with somebody and they can edit it and all the changes are saved in real-time. Google applications are a life saver when you are collaborating with people.

Google Drive is the greatest part of the Google applications because it is a cloud that saves anything you do in any project and allows you to access the project with the changes you made anywhere. I love the to-do template on the google sheets because I can make a to-do list on my phone. Throughout my day I add things to my to-do list on the Google Sheets app on my phone, so I have a list of what I need to get done for the next day, and I can access it on my computer when I start doing my homework.

One of the pros of using Google Drive is the accessibility. The ability to work on something anywhere and at any time is the best feature. Sometimes I don’t have my laptop with me, but I have a few extra minutes to work on an essay or a presentation, and I can do it on my phone and save myself some time later. A second pro to using Google applications is the ability to share my projects with my classmate or my group members. If we can work on a project and see the changes in real-time instead of emailing changes to each other, it makes working together smoother.

A con of the Google applications is that there is a bit of a learning curve when you are coming from working in pages or word. It is a minor con, but you learn to get used to the different formats on the applications.

Google Docs and Drive makes working on homework and projects so much easier. I can work on my assignments at any time and on any of my devices. It revolutionized the way I work on a group assignment. If I can work on a project in a Google application the possibility of miscommunication is reduced because people are responsible for their own work and changes are not dependent upon someone putting everyone’s piece together. This web-based application is the best service for students of any age.
